We see ourselves as a different kind of AME Zion Church; where tradition meets innovation and custom intersects with the cutting edge, to claim the lost and reclaim the disillusioned to spark a movement that moves people to a new dimension of Christian living!
We want to take you to a place where it’s not about rules, but about relationships. We want to move the body of Christ to understand that it’s not about going to church, but about being the church. Pennsylvania Avenue will help you discover how the faith that forged the paths of our foreparents can shape the journey of a new generation and become the driving force in your life.
Embracing Change
The message of the Good News of our Savior’s love for all of God’s creation will never change, however we are called to do ministry in a world that is ever changing. Faced with this reality, God’s Church, if it is to be effective in its mission, must never compromise its message, but must absolutely and of necessity change its methodologies. We will embrace change! We will break out of the bondage of irrelevant tradition, challenge the routine of religion and the paralysis of our personal preferences to be a responsive and agile ministry, unafraid to be bold and daring in every aspect of our ministry.
We realize that the only reason the church exists is to redeem humankind and to advance the Kingdom of God; therefore, we will break the mold and do whatever it takes to move people from where they are to where God wants them to be. A day has come with new challenges, different obstacles, and more extreme circumstances and the AME Zion Church must respond, Pennsylvania Avenue must respond.
